Workplace investigations
When serious allegations arise, an independent investigation protects everyone.
Complaints of bullying, harassment, fraud, or serious misconduct need to be investigated properly. A rushed or biased investigation can make things worse, exposing you to claims from both the complainant and the person being investigated.
Between one in five and one in three New Zealand workers report experiencing bullying or harassment at work. When complaints come in, how you handle them matters. A proper investigation establishes the facts, follows procedural fairness, and gives you the information you need to make a defensible decision.
When to consider an external investigator:
· Allegations involve senior staff or managers
· The complaint is serious or complex
· There’s a risk of perceived bias with internal investigation
· You need the findings to withstand legal scrutiny
What we do:
· Scoping and terms of reference
· Witness interviews and evidence gathering
· Findings reports with clear conclusions
· Recommendations for next steps
· Support through any disciplinary process that follows
